My Story
For decades, I have built a career on a simple principle: hard work, fiscal responsibility, and putting the customer — or the constituent — first. My journey has taken me from the banking halls of Pakistan to the boardrooms of Canada's financial district, and finally to the front lines of small business ownership. I am ready to bring this wealth of practical, real-world experience to Ward 7 Town Council.
A Foundation in Finance and Integrity
My professional life began with a strong academic foundation, graduating from Punjab University with a degree in Commerce. I quickly entered the rigorous world of chartered accountancy before joining Citibank, where I spent 3.5 years mastering the complexities of international banking.
Seeking to make a broader impact, I joined a specialized national development financial institution. Here, I spent a decade in management, financing medium- and large-scale industrial projects using Islamic modes of financing. This role required not just financial acumen, but the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and foster economic growth from the ground up.
The Canadian Dream: Adaptability and Growth
In March 1998, I made the life-changing decision to move to Canada. Like many immigrants, I started with a clean slate and a determination to succeed. I successfully ran a credit card promotion company for three years before joining TD Waterhouse as a Product Administrator. Over 3.5 years with TD, I gained deep insight into the Canadian financial system and wealth management.
Small Business Owner & Job Creator
I eventually transitioned from the corporate world to the tough world of small business ownership. I secured a franchise for a gas station, a business I have run successfully for years. This experience has been the most educational of my life. It has taught me:

Alongside my retail business, I have built a successful career as a Real Estate Broker. In this field, I have achieved several distinguishing records and awards. Helping families find their first home or investors secure their future has given me a unique perspective on the housing needs and economic pressures facing our residents.

I am not a career politician. I am a businessman, a broker, and a neighbour. I understand the balance sheet of a small business, the stress of a mortgage, and the importance of a vibrant local economy.

Why I'm Running
Ward 7 is a wonderful community — but it deserves better representation. Too often, residents feel unheard, infrastructure issues go unaddressed, and decisions are made without meaningful input from the people most affected.
My decision to run stems directly from what I see in our neighbourhood every day. The current incumbent has allowed Ward 7 to be neglected — maintenance has slipped, concerns have gone unanswered, and the area's appeal has suffered as a result. This neglect is not just an inconvenience; it is quietly eroding the value of our properties and the quality of life we have worked hard to build.
I'm running because I believe Ward 7 residents deserve a councillor who is accessible, accountable, and genuinely committed to their quality of life. Someone who shows up — not just at election time, but every single day.
